 Myrtle Fruehauf Chamberlin - 1898-1976

PictureMyrtle Fruehauf and Gerald Wilkenson Chamberlin
August Fruehauf and Louisa Schuchard were the parents of five children.  Their fourth child was their only daughter, Myrtle born in 1898.

In 1920 Myrtle married Gerald Wilkenson ‘Jerry’ Chamberlin, son of George Erwin Chamberlin and Adeline Cosford of New York.
Myrtle would never work in the family business.  However her husband Gerald Chamberlin would be taken in and serve the company as if a son of the Fruehauf family. In July 1929 August Fruehauf stepped down as president of Fruehauf Trailer Company, becoming chairman of the board of directors.  Harvey took the president’s chair; Harry was vice-president, secretary and director of purchases; Earl L. Vosler was vice-president; and Gerald Chamberlin became vice-president and director of sales.

Myrtle Fruehauf Chamberlin was loving and devoted to her siblings and later to her own family.  She had 2 children, Donald and Joy and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Myrtle died in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, February 21, 1976 at the age of 77.
